The Mets' Top 10 Career Leaders (Homegrown Hitters)

Mike Piazza is one of the greatest hitters in Mets' history, appearing at or near the top of various offensive categories.  Similarly, Sid Fernandez, David Cone and John Franco are among the top pitchers in club annals.  But all four players were drafted by other teams and made their major league debuts wearing jerseys that did not say "Mets" on them.

In addition to Piazza, Fernandez, Cone and Franco, other all-time Mets greats made their first appearances in the majors as Mets, but were not originally drafted by New York and spent time with other teams' minor league affiliates.  Players like Ron Darling (Texas Rangers) and Jesse Orosco (Minnesota Twins) are prime examples.

So what would the Mets' all-time hitting leaderboards look like if they only featured players who were drafted, signed, developed and made their major league debuts with the Mets?  And which categories have a strong homegrown representation?  (Runs scored and base hits, perhaps?)  Similarly, which categories are populated by players that came from other organizations?  (Some slugging categories might qualify here.)

Below are the top ten homegrown hitting leaders at various categories, along with where each player ranks on the Mets' all-time leaderboard in that category (listed in the column on the right of each chart).  For the top ten homegrown pitching leaders, please click here.
