With Mariano Rivera announcing his retirement, major league teams can now begin to prepare their special tributes and gifts for the great Yankee closer as he makes his final rounds through major league stadiums.
As is common for players of his ilk, video tributes will be shown at each ballpark when Rivera makes his last appearance in that city. Rivera's last regular season appearance at Citi Field (he will more than likely make his 13th All-Star Game appearance at Citi Field in July) will be in late May. If the Mets' brass really want to show their fans that they want them back at the ballpark, offering this video tribute to Rivera would be a good start.
Mariano Rivera has been a great player for almost two decades. Matt Franco had a great moment for about 15 seconds. Wouldn't it be something if he made a trip to Citi Field in late May to present Rivera his special gift, 14 years after giving Mets fans an unforgettable gift at Shea Stadium?
Not every tribute has to include cars, paintings and uniforms under glass. This is one tribute Mets fans would stand up and cheer loudly for, don't you think?
